Payporte cancels pay on delivery

The ‘Payment On Delivery’ option will no longer be available to customers of one of Nigeria’s top e-commerce platform PayPorte.

As a result of this decision, only secured online payments and banks transfer would be accepted as methods of payments henceforth.

Commenting on the suspension, the MD / CEO, PayPorte, Mr Eyo Francis Bassey, said: “Our decision was necessitated by the increasing risk and security challenges posed by this payment option. Also, to reduce the amount of cash carried from one location to another by our delivery staff. We encourage our customers to make use of our other secured electronic payment options such as online payment or bank transfer for payments.
We believe this will also play an active role in the growth of e-commerce business in Nigeria, as well as give a new dimension to the business”, he concluded.

Customers don’t need to worry as the management of PayPorte has guaranteed 48 hours refunds on return.

In the meantime, however, Pay On Delivery will available to customers who have shopped on PayPorte for five times or more until 10th April pending its total stoppage.

This suspension is coming off the heels of a Jumia Mall delivery man who was killed while delivering two iPhones to customers in Port-harcourt, South-South, Nigeria.
